What is Reiki ?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It was discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1900's. Mrs. Hawayo Takata brought Reiki from Japan to the west in 1938. The word "Rei" means universal and "Ki" life energy. Ki flows within the physical body through pathways called chakras, meridans and nadis. It also flows around us in fields of energy called auras. We all have life energy circulating through, in and around our physical bodies. When you transition from this life your life energy departs. When your energy is low or there is a restriction in its flow you are more likely to get sick and feel an imbalance in your physical body. When it's high and flowing, you are less likely to become ill. It's extremely important that you keep your life energy balanced, so you may have a healthy body, mind and spirit.
How is Reiki administered ?
Reiki is administered by a gentle laying on of hands. The practitioner will place their hands on the person to be healed with the intention of healing. It can also be administered slightly above the body in the auric field. The Reiki energy will begin to flow and will provide what is best for the highest good of the person receiving Reiki. When a person receives a Reiki treatment, the "Rei "part of the energy assesses where the person has blocks and then directs the "Ki" healing energy to the blocked energy and helps it to flow freely. Reiki raises the vibrational energy in and around the physical body, so that the life energy can fill you with positive healing energy. It always benefits and helps to improve the effectiveness of all other types of therapy. A treatment will help to reduce stress and bring an overall sense of peace and relaxation to your physical, mental and emotional body.
The Reiki Ideals by Mikao Usui :
Just for today, I will let go of anger.
Just for today, I will let go of worry.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will be kind to all living things.
Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.
Every morning and every evening put your hands together in Gassho position" two hand coming together in prayer" and repeat the Reiki Ideals out loud with a compassionate heart.
May the loving energy of Reiki give you peace and a compassionate heart to share with the world.
With Love and Gratitude,
Denise and Carole
